More about Jo Ruff

Vegan Therapy –

My work brings together my experience as a vegan, activist and therapist to support people who are affected by the emotional impact of becoming aware of animal suffering, engaging in activism, or navigating a world that often minimises the reality of animal harm. Many vegans and activists experience a wide range of feelings — shock, horror, sadness, helplessness, grief, guilt, pain, disappointment, anger, despair, and a deep yearning to help. These responses are valid, human, and often overwhelming. My approach centres on recognising your individual needs, strengthening your coping strategies, and helping you stay grounded while continuing to live in alignment with your values.

Specific Therapy Skills:

Vegan trauma — the emotional impact of witnessing or learning about animal cruelty
Vegan depression — low mood linked to ethical distress, isolation, or compassion fatigue
Activism trauma/stress — burnout, guilt, overwhelm, anger, despair, and the emotional toll of bearing witness

Key information

All my therapy is delivered online, so you can join sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own home. I offer support with vegan trauma, vegan depression and activism‑related stress, alongside a wide range of therapeutic needs. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes, with availability on daytimes, as well as Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
